What is Parent Coaching?

We start with you.

Parent coaching helps you to understand yourself better and normalises the frustrations of motherhood. It gives you a deeper understanding of your own emotional wounds and triggers and helps to start a healing journey for yourself. Investing in yourself like this, will benefit your own mental wellbeing and greatly improves your ability to connect with your child with patience, love and understanding.

The process

We look back at your childhood with gentleness. There will be personal experiences and memories that we explore to improve your self-awareness as well as to understand how those experiences shape the way you are reacting in the ‘moment’.

  • We discuss how it feels for you when your child cries, has a tantrum or expresses their anger.

  • We discuss the power of learning to hold space for yourself and your children and practice empathy and active listening

  • We navigate the importance of radical self-care and work on how you can meet your own needs within the messiness of motherhood.

  • We dive into the power of healing through play, setting boundaries, understanding your family values, exploring anger and much much more.

The path to connected parenting

We often feel like we are pretty calm and rational people before we have children. Then the baby arrives, sleep deprivation pushes us to the edge, the toddler meltdowns shake us to the core and the general intensity of parenting small children can make us question everything we knew about ourselves.  We can often feel shocked, ashamed and guilty of our anger, detachment and impatience. The Aware Mama works alongside you to help guide you towards becoming a more aware, healing and present mother who can:

  • Hold space for big emotions

  • Practice emotional awareness

  • Increase your resilience and your children’s

  • See the benefit of all emotions, including the ‘hard’ ones

  • Practice more presence

  • Understand your own anger and rage and learn to connect with its power

Tackle overwhelm

No parent is perfect, including me. We are all messy humans trying our very best to raise children with resilience, creativity, kindness and grit. We can overwhelm ourselves reading parenting books and articles and just end up more confused than ever. Finding the right mentors to guide you through the hard moments, to listen, to empathise and to provide a plan to move you forward can help you to build a more connected relationship with your child and with yourself.

Tools to improve

When we are truly heard and witnessed, receive empathy and are provided with simple tools to improve connection with our child, it creates space for a relationship based on trust and collaboration, rather than the fear, control and punishment.

The Aware Mama parent coaching will provide tools that can be used in the moment, to help your child move through difficult emotions and to understand what might be causing these issues. Together, we explore techniques for taking a step back, to be in the moment with your child and to tackle what daily life throws at you.

“ I recently had coaching with Alita. At the time, I was struggling with my relationship with my husband as the primary issue which had a huge impact on my children. To the point that my 4 year old daughter would immediately tell us to “Stop talking” if she noticed me and my husband trying to communicate with each other for she feared we would get into an argument. Here’s the most significant part of working with a Parent Coach like Alita – it’s a judgement free zone full of empathy. I was able to let loose the words, the tears and the feelings in a way I’ve not done before. I’ve done couples counselling before, but even in that situation, you cannot fully release when your husband is sitting next to you fuming or hurt by what you’ve just said – hence there is judgement there.

In one session with Alita, I somehow discovered a limiting belief I have carried with me for a long time. The belief that “I’m lonely.” I was able to recognize this belief, see what impact it was having on me, and let this belief go in my session with Alita. I can confidently say this belief is gone. Do I still feel lonely sometimes, yes, but I don’t believe I am lonely – it does not define me anymore.

It was a very cool experience and life-defining shift. Thank you Alita. “

“I am so thankful to be part of Alita’s pilot group parent coaching course with a bunch of other Mummas. Alita… wow! What a woman. She is honest about mistakes she makes on her own parenting journey which is so refreshing and her mistakes are so familiar with my own. She is funny! I can laugh and cry at the same time which makes healing those very sore wounds easier in a strange way! I feel supported, heard and understood at all times.

Alita has given so much more than ever expected to us all. Although I have yet to meet Alita, I feel she connects in a way you feel you know her well. I have told Alita and the group things I would never speak aloud. Yet, the circle is such a safe container that I feel just that. Safe. I feel heard. With that comes healing. Healing I’ve done that I would never have done without this program. If you’re ready to heal, I say this with a full heart, commit to this. You will have zero regrets. The Jai Institute content is enjoyable, knowledgeable and short enough to not get lost. Thank you Alita. You are gold.

“Alita offers such a safe space, I felt held and heard by everyone and I was able to open up and really connect with myself and move through some big things. It’s so important for us mamas to have a safe space with no judgement. Alita’s circles always give me everything I need.”
